We are excited that the inaugural Taiwan Film Festival kicks off from the 27 July in Sydney.
If you are under 18 you can catch:
Black Bear Forest: “A fascinating journey of searching for black bears in Taiwan that documents the astonishing wildlife in Taiwan and how it connects with the local community”. (all ages)
Take Me to the Moon: “Taiwanese version of Back to the Future “. (all ages)
For our horror fans – The Tag Along 2: “Taiwanese box office hit The Tag Along 2, the story adapted from the horror urban legend The Little Girl in Red, starring Rainie Yang, Francesca Kao and River Huang”. (15+)
For our over 18 youth:
The Bold, The Corrupt and The Beautiful: “Award winner at the Golden Horse Awards 2017 and selected for Taipei Film Festival 2018. Lying, deceiving, making underhand deals and appeasing the Taiwanese elite. An extravagant mix of soap opera and thriller in which women rule the roost.”
The Story of the Stone: “Winner of the Excellent Screenplay Award at Golden Harvest Award 2014 in Taipei. The film displays an honest and natural depiction of the gay life in Taipei, as well as exploring despair and hope”.
A Sydney Film Festival favourite – The Great Buddha: “Award winner at Golden Horse and Taipei Film Festival 2017. A free-wheeling delight which glides effortlessly from deadpan comedy to Hitchcockian thriller and humanist drama”.
Father to Son: “Selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam Big Screen Competition 2018. Produced by Taiwanese auteur Hsiao-Hsien Hou and directed by Ya-Chuan Hsiao, the film sketches a circle of evolution in a human drama that explores stories from the past, which hide in the future.”
