Sydney Film Festival have announced their 2018 program preview. Catch the Film in Revolt team all over the festival from the 6 – 17 June from red carpet coverage, interviews with festival guests and reviews you will want to read.
So what films can under 18s attend in this program preview?
The Miseducation of Cameron Post (15+)
Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behaviour, SFF 2014) won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for her latest film, a comedy-drama set in a “gay conversion” camp staring Chloë Grace Moretz.

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist (15+)
For our fashionistas – a Vivienne Westwood documentary. The director, Lorna Tucker has a background in music videos, which only seems fitting to tell Westwood’s story.
West of Sunshine (15+)
An Australian story about a working-class dad who must settle a crippling debt. Jason Raftopoulos’ impressive first feature debuted at Venice Film Festival.
The Insult (15 +)
“Ziad Doueiri’s (The Attack, SFF 2013) thrilling, Oscar-nominated legal drama explores festering historical, political and religious divisions in his native Lebanon.”
RocKabul (15+)
The music strand within the festival is always impressive. Travis Beard chronicles Afghanistan’s only metal band as they take to the stage.
Lots of Kids, a Monkey and a Castle (15+)
A portrait of a Spanish family headed by eccentric matriarch, Julita. This looks like a beautiful tribute to the director’s family.
Inventing Tomorrow (all ages)
“Inspiring students from Indonesia, India, Mexico and Hawaii tackle environmental issues in their own backyard, as they prepare for the world’s largest science fair.”
I Used to Be Normal: A Boyband Fangirl Story (15+)
“The coming of age stories of four Melbourne women whose lives were changed forever by their love of boybands Backstreet Boys, One Direction, Take That and The Beatles.”
Ghost Stories (15+)
If you are a fan ofThe League of Gentlemen (and who isn’t!) this film looks unmissable. An anthology of chilling tales staring Martin Freeman.
Disobedience (MA 15+)

Chef Flynn (15+)
This documentary follows teenage culinary sensation Flynn McGarry’s journey from cooking at home to the cover of New York Times Magazine.
American Animals (15+)
“Bart Layton’s (The Imposter, SFF 2012) first feature is a wildly entertaining docu-fiction hybrid about four young men who attempt one of the most audacious art-heists in history.”
Genesis 2.0 (15+)
“Winner of a Special Jury Award at Sundance, this striking documentary connects Siberian hunters of woolly mammoth remains with cutting edge 21st century cloning technology.”
Leave No Trace (15+)
“Debra Granik (Winter’s Bone, SFF 2010) returns with a delicate drama about a father and daughter who are found by authorities after living off-grid in the wilderness for years.”
