I was in Melbourne last weekend with my family and we went to a free screening of Alphaville at the NGV to run with their 200 Years of Australian Fashion exhibition.
The film was directed by Jean-Luc Godard who is a French New Wave director. This is the first film I have seen of his. My mum has taken out the DVD Breatlhess for us to watch together.
Alphaville gave me a new perspective of society and the way we function. This French 1960’s, classic had me stuck to the screen for the whole time (but my younger brother fell asleep). There was a charm in each character, especially Anna Karina’s Natacha. Her style was entrancing. Eddie Constantine (Lemmy), a government agent, fit his mysterious character. Alphaville took me to another world, I was distracted from reality.
