Obscura is an imaginative stop-motion animation that gives us a glimpse inside our cameras to see what creatures control it from within and their lives that are defined by what they see through the lens of the camera. The colour of the film creates a well balanced and harmonious feel which lends itself to the idea of these creatures exploring a new world and trying to understand their world.
The film has a Dr Seuss story idea mixed in with the animation style and feel of a Tim Burton film. It does this through its unique character designing giving the creatures a monstrous look while also creating engaging characters the audience can connect with.
The narrator rhymes throughout the film to appeal to audiences of all ages to create comfort between the film and the audience. This imaginative stop-motion film explores the ‘what if’ concept to build a world around an everyday object and explains the inner workings of a camera in an engaging and unique way that everyone can enjoy. Overall, Obscura is very enjoyable and worth checking out.
